· The IEC conductivity ring is the classic device to demonstrate the different heat conductivity of different metals
· 4 strips of iron, copper, brass and aluminium fixed to an aluminium ring
· Pea-sized amount of wax is placed into the depressions at the end of each ring and the centre of the device placed on a Bunsen burner to heat the 4 metal rings evenly
· Compare the heat conductivity of each metal by observing the melting of each particle of wax.
NOTE: Care should be taken when using Bunsen burner.
